Most people tell me they do it best in bed just before they fall asleep. I do my best work in the shower. In both cases, I think our success is created because the clutter in our minds begins to slow down.
Where do you generate your most creative ideas?
While you are driving? Walking? Sitting on your porch swing? There is no right or wrong place. Your mind, body, and creative juices have their own rhythm.
The important thing is to be ready to capture these bright ideas before they are lost forever. I know people who keep a notepad next to their bed for this very reason. Others record their ideas while driving.
Before the prevalence of mobile, I called my office voicemail and left myself a message with my nighttime ideas. And, before my daughter took them for her bath-time artwork, I used to keep soap crayons in the shower to write my ideas on the walls.
Wherever your creative place is, own it. Arm yourself with whatever tools you need to ensure your ideas are not lost. You will be glad you did.
Oh, and the idea for this blog topic? You guessed it. I was in the shower.
