While planning my Toastmasters Club's meeting earlier this week, I had the opportunity to incorporate two "Life Lessons for 2017" into my talk. I chose to share "Sunbeams and Screwtops". What do sunbeams and screwtops have to do with each other or how to look at the coming year? Glad you asked! I LOVE sunbeams -- those beautiful rays of light that come down through the clouds. But do you know what sunbeams are? They are sunlight reflecting off particles in the air -- pollution, smog, dirt, water, etc. Yuck!
Life Lesson from Sunbeams: If we didn't have the "bad stuff" in our lives, we wouldn't be able to see the beauty that can come from it. And then there are those pesky screwtop water bottles. I just purchased three new water bottles...and the lids never screw on tightly the first time. But I have learned that pushing harder does not make it fit any better. It just make a mess and gets me frustrated. Instead, I have to stop, unscrew it a bit, then move forward. It works every time! Life Lesson from Screwtops: When obstacles get in our way, or something isn't a good fit, sometimes pushing harder isn't the answer. Sometimes you need to stop, take a few steps back, then approach it from a different angle. I wish you nothing by success and happiness. But just in case "life happens", remember these lessons from sunbeams and screwtops. Comments are closed.
