I love simple. I love good creative. A billboard DONE CORRECTLY is the epitome of simple, good creative.
At 70 MPH, five words and an image are about all you can absorb. And with the growth of digital boards, your view time may be less.
Billboards are awareness tools. Don't write a book. Do reinforce your brand or message. Do create a feeling ("wow, those fries look good!"). Be memorable!
Next time you pass a wonderfully creative and effective billboard, CALL THE COMPANY. Tell them they did a great job. I do. Trust me; you will not be making a lot of calls.
